On the day of your move, feed in the morning as you usually would and take your dog out on a walk before your move.<\/li>\n<li>Bring your pets\u2019 toys \u2013 Bring along your dog and cat\u2019s favorite bed, toys, treats and food and water dishes. When arranging their items in your new home, place them in places similar to where they were in your old home.<\/li>\n<li>Keep things calm \u2013 If you feel your pet will benefit being near you during the move, plan on that. If your cat would rather be away from all the hustle and bustle, keep him in a crate away from the madness until it is safe to let him or her out in your new home.<\/li>\n<li>Keep your pets confined \u2013 During the move and while you are packing and unpacking, it may be likely doors and windows will be left open. Avoid having your pet hide or run away and keep him confined to one room you know will not be bothered. It is also a very good idea to keep your pet\u2019s identification and your contact info on your pet. Keep vet records with you as well.<\/li>\n<li>Be patient and provide plenty of love and reinforcement \u2013 It may take a while for your pet to get used to their new surroundings. Let your dog and cat explore and come out when they\u2019re ready. Make sure your cat\u2019s litter box is easily accessible and in the same room you let him out in. Give them lots of attention, more than usual.
