5 Tips To Prepare Your Home For The Fall Season
Posted on August 14th, 2013Fall is just around the corner and soon it will be time to start that fire in the fireplace and decorate for the holidays.
Clear The Air would like to share some great tips to make sure your home is ready for the Fall and Winter months to come.
Here are 5 home maintenance tips to prepare for the fall months. Remember to keep our Clear The Air products on hand for any odor you may experience in your home. Clear The Air works great for any last minute odors that creep up right before company arrives.
- Check for leaks – Cold air can get in around doors and windows. Use a flashlight to check for door and window drafts. If you notice a leak you should add weather stripping to doors and use caulking on windows. This is also a good idea to do during the summer to keep cooling costs down.
- Check smoke detectors – Replace your batteries every time fall and spring come around. So many fires are caused by Christmas trees so it is extremely important to check your smoke detectors to make sure they are working properly and can warn you in the event of an emergency.
- Check your heating system – Just as you want to do before summer starts for your AC unit, check your heater to make sure it is working before the colder months of the winter set in.
- Check your watering schedule – As temperatures begin to cool, plants need less water. Adjust your watering schedule for lawns, borders, and containers. Pay close attention to containers as they tend to become waterlogged.
- Check to make sure your fireplace is ready for use – Make sure your fireplace is free of ashes and your chimney is cleaned out before having your first fire. You may also want to ensure your flu is open before lighting a fire if you closed it up over the warmer months. Nothing says Fall like a cozy fire in the fireplace. If your house smells like a fire after you have a fire in the fireplace, we recommend hanging a couple Odor Eliminator Bags around your fireplace to eliminate any smoke odors.

Do You Smell A Dead Rodent In Your Home?
Posted on November 20th, 2012The Holidays are upon us and it is time for house guests, both family and friends, to visit and stay with you. What could be worse than having an animal die in your walls and you are now left with a horrible odor right before company arrives.
Instead of having to break down your drywall and removing the carcass, Clear the Air’s Odor Eliminator Bags will remove the odor without even having to come in contact with the odor producer. Don’t let a terrible odor ruin your holiday season.
Dead rodents can die in your wall and often you are unable to find the carcass to remove it. Earth Care Odor Remover Bags are used by Pest Control Professionals to remove dead rodent odors, and urine and feces odors associated with rodents. The carcass does not have to be removed to remove the odors.
Earth Care Bags do not have to come into contact with dead rodent or odor causing agent. Simply hang the bag near the odor and in 24 hours the odor will be gone. Earth Care acts like a magnet by attracting and neutralizing smells. It is made from an all natural mineral, is non toxic and biodegradable and safe for Planet Earth. It is also safe around children and pets, even if eaten. Earth Care adsorbs odors rather than masking them with a fragrance.
How to Eliminate Dead Animal & Related Urine/Feces Odors:
- It is not necessary to remove dead carcass to remove the odor.
- More bags = better faster results, we recommend a minimum of 3 bags.
- Hang a bag in every room you smell odor.
- If you believe the dead animal is in attic or crawl space hang one bag there also.
- Bag will outlast odor from carcass and handle any urine or feces odors that may exist from previously infested areas.
- One bag covers up to 100 square feet. It will last 3-4 months in use, or indefinitely in plastic wrap.
- Minimum of three bags needed to remove dead Rodent/Animal odors.

Easy and Inexpensive Home Cleaning Tips
Posted on October 15th, 2012Clear the Air would like to share some helpful holiday home ready tips.
If you are expecting guests this holiday season, you might want to do a deeper clean than simply fluffing the pillows and wiping down the counter tops.
The following are some helpful home cleaning tips that are easy and inexpensive.
Scrub your entryway. Wipe down your front door, give the doormat a good shake, and make sure dust and dirt haven’t collected on floors and furniture legs. These are the first things guests will see when they arrive, so keeping them clean will guarantee a good first impression.
Focus on the kitchen. People tend to gather around the food during the holidays, so make sure your kitchen looks and smells nice. Don’t forget to dust the light fixtures and flush sink drains with boiling water.
Whatever you do, don’t neglect the restroom. Don’t just wipe surfaces; break out the stiff-bristled brush and scouring powder to really scrub things clean.
Sniff out bad smells. If you clean your home and something still doesn’t smell quite right, make sure to use some Clear the Air. We guarantee to completely eliminate any odors in your home you’d rather guests not notice.
Give your garbage disposal some love, considering how much it will “consume” this season. To cut down on odors, chop up a whole lemon — rind and all — and let the disposal gobble it up. Throw in ice cubes to sharpen the blades.
How about one soap for everything? If you’ve got a bottle of castile soap ($10 for a 16-oz. bottle), you’re ready for anything. It can be laundry detergent, mopping solution, and shampoo, just to name a few.
Make sure you can see the guests coming. Keep windows clean and streak-free on the cheap with an easy mixture of vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Wipe down windows with a reusable microfiber cloth.
With all your holiday cooking, stovetops and ovens are bound to get dirty. Baking soda and water make a simple scouring solution that can scrub off that baked-on gunk.
To save money, make your own bathroom cleaning products. For example, to unclog a drain for pennies, pour half a cup of baking soda followed by half a cup of vinegar down the drain. Cover the drain for at least 30 minutes, then flush it with boiling water.

Preparing Your Home For The Holidays
Posted on September 17th, 2012Everyone wants a nice clean and odor free home for the holidays. Clear the Air would like to share some helpful holiday ready home tips with our fans.
Remember to take advantage of our Odor Eliminator products to get your home smelling it’s best!
To get your home ready for entertaining, some simple tweaks to your furniture arrangement and home furnishings can do wonders. It takes just a little to make your space more guest-friendly and attractive. Some tips you might want to consider for a holiday or dinner party:
Make Room: Open up your floor space by arranging furniture to allow guests to move around freely. Remove furniture pieces you will not be needing to a temporary holding place. This might even be a good time to consider whether you need these at all.
Introduce Order: Take a look around to make sure that your room looks comfortable and does not present a haphazard look, no matter how casual you want it to be. Mixing too many sizes, scales, colors or textures can make a space seem confusing and even uninviting.
Formal vs. Informal: Decide beforehand whether you want a formal or informal look. For a more formal arrangement you need more symmetry in how you arrange your furniture and accessories. Go with more muted or deeper colors, and stick to just very few. For a more casual look, you can go for more of an informal balance or asymmetry. You can be more playful with your colors and textures and themes.
Express a Theme: Having a theme helps you unify your decor, and could add to a more festive atmosphere. Continue your party’s theme from room to room to give an uninterrupted flow to the ambiance.
Nature: Bring nature indoors with arrangements of leaves, branches, twigs, or other natural elements that emphasize the season or your theme.
Take Advantage of your Walls: Hang artwork or mirrors to dress up your walls. Wall hangings or artwork that go with the season or occasion can continue the theme of your party, and make your space more festive. For holiday entertaining, strings of lights, ornaments, and removable wall decals can be also be used.
Lighting: Lighting is crucial in setting up the ambiance of a room. Make sure you use it to create the effect you want. Multi-layered lighting lets you adjust the amount of light you need at different points in your evening. Candles can add tremendously to your decor, and your fireplace is also a source of light.
Focus: Have a focal point in the room to anchor the space, and decorate around your favorite item or feature giving it the place of honor.
No Crowding: Remember to have enough room at the table without crowding your guests. Either use a table with leaves or set up another table. You can extend the one you have by adding another table instead of crowding people around it. If none of these options are available, consider doing away with a sit down dinner or have fewer guests.
Personalize It: Above all, don’t hesitate to give your space your own personal touch. Everything does not have to match, and unusual furnishings will make your place more interesting, and personal. Just remember to arrange it in a way that makes sense instead of chaos. In the end, do what feels right to you, because it is your home.
